Actor John Nettles (Bergerac, Midsomer Murders) presents this exploration of the life and landscapes that shaped Sir John Betjeman, one of Britain’s best-loved poets.

Sir John, who came from a wealthy background, made his early trips from London to the family’s holiday home in Cornwall by train. This began a lifelong love affair with the West Country.

Celebrating Betjeman’s lifelong love of the West Country, the film features interviews with his daughter Candida Lycett Green, biographer Bevis Hillier, artist David Inshaw and poet Charles Causley. In a beautiful seven-part series, released to coincide with the centenary of Betjeman’s birth in 2006, Nettles also celebrates the very best of the great man’s poetry.
