Description

This dvd, Cab Ride No.16, has only been possible since the beginning of the Winter 1987/88 timetables, as with the introduction of the 23 metre long “Super Sprinters” a new service from Cardiff to Birmingham via Worcester and Kidderminster was introduced.

Travelling through: Cardiff, Marshfield, Alexandra Docks Junction, Newport, Maindee West Junction, Maindee East Junction, Llanwern Steel Works, Severn Tunnel Junction, Caldicot, Severn Bridge, Chepstow, Wye Valley Junction, Lydney, Awre, Grange Court, Gloucester, Engine Shed Junction, Cheltenham, Ashchurch, Abbotswood Junction, Norton Junction, Worcester Shrubb Hill, Tunnel Junction, Droitwich, Hartlebury, Kidderminster, Hagley, Stourbridge Junction, Lye, Cradley Heath, Old Hill, Rowley Regis, Langley Green, Smethwich West to Birmingham New Street .

This cab ride was recorded on the 13.15 from Cardiff to Birmingham via Kidderminster from the cab of Leyland-built Class 155 No. 155303 with Senior Inspector Harry Pratt and Inspector Nigel Putney and Geoff Hughes of the BR London Midland Region Public Affairs Department, whom we would like to thank for arranging this journey.

This journey is also particularly noteworthy for semaphore signals around Worcester.

Please note there is no commentary other than cab conversations which are not always audible above locomotive sounds.
