Widely regarded as Hammer Films’ most shocking and controversial film, The Camp On Blood Island is now seldom screened as it shows an honest and uncensored portrayal of the sheer Japanese barbarity towards their prisoners during the Second World War. Made in 1958 and starring Andre Morell and Carl Mohner, the film is set amongst British POWs who discover that the war is finally won – and Japan has been crushed. Now, they fear that if their Japanese guards find out, they’ll be ruthlessly massacred. Based on a true story.
