Description

Four fantastic films from the 1960s packed with highlights of a stellar racing life.  Sir Stirling Moss is a true sporting legend, a man whose exceptional skills and determined character saw him overcome the odds again and again on his way to victory in motorsport’s most famous events. Although never crowned Formula One World Champion, Moss is rightly regarded as one of the greatest ever drivers.

In 1963, after recovering from an horrific accident which nearly cost his life, Moss retired from racing. In our first film from the BP archive, he talks openly about his career, cars, rivals and leaving the sport which had been his life. In conversation with Raymond Baxter at Goodwood – scene of his career-ending accident – he reflects on his time with BRM, ERA, Maserati, Mercedes, Vanwall and Lotus, why he never raced for Ferrari and what he thought about the other racing greats of the era. The revealing interview is interspersed with archive race footage and photos.

From the emotional pain of losing the F1 World Championship by a single point to the physical pain of his awful 1962 crash, Moss speaks candidly about a life lived at full speed, including the personal cost of racing and celebrity. We look inside his London home, and discover which of his more than 450 races he considers the greatest.

In Moss on the Monte, he visits the 1967 Monte-Carlo Rally and explains how the sport works with input from greats like Paddy Hopkirk. Moss – The First Ten Years is a fascinating retrospective charting his career in archive footage from Grand Prix and sportscar racing, including the legendary Le Mans showdowns. Finally, Two Laps of Honour showcases his incredible skills at the Monaco and European GPs of 1961, guiding his Rob Walker Lotus to unlikely wins ahead of the all-conquering Ferraris.

"Should be in the DVD library of anyone who considers themselves a Formula One fan…worth getting just to watch Raymond Baxter"  Motorsport
