There are also views in Southampton Docks which saw steam activity during the final days;  wildlife painter and railway enthusiast David Shepherd who bought engines from BR towards the end of steam; and Tony Clare of the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society, who explains how their locomotive No. 35028 Clan Line was selected and purchased in 1967.
