Cab Rides Around The British Isles (No. 34): Portsmouth-Eastleigh & Return
Journey back in time to the Spring of 1990 to record the last few weeks of operation of the venerable “Hampshire” DEMU’s on what are now the “Solent” electrified lines of Network South East.
At the time of our ride, 30th April 1990, most of the third rails were in position and the new station at Hedge End was complete. All services were still in the hands of the DEMU’s, our unit being No. 205029.
We would like to thank Network South East at Waterloo for arranging this Cab Ride and Inspector Brian Mercer, drivers White and Letchford, guard Glyn Hiscock.
Please note there is no commentary other than cab conversations which are not always audible above locomotive sounds.
