Enjoy a Driver’s view of the famous West Coast Main Line over its southern stretch, from Euston in London to Liverpool Lime Street via the Trent Valley cut-off and Weaver Junction.

The journey took place on Thursday, 30th May 1985, which was four days before Crewe station was completely closed for a period of seven weeks for remodelling. The programme therefore represents a record of the “old” Crewe.

A live commentary on the journey is provided by Inspector Peter Crawley, who travelled in the cab with us. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking him for his superbly informative commentary. We would like to take this opportunity of thanking the Public Affairs Department of London Midland Region for making facilities available to us for the filming of this Cab Ride, and to all staff involved for their co-operation and assistance.

The timetable for the journey was: 08.50 Euston (dep) 09.06 Watford Junction (pick up) 09.30 Milton Keynes Central (dep) 10.16 Tamworth (dep) 11.11 Runcorn (dep) 11.33 Liverpool Lime Street (arr).

Please note there is no commentary other than cab conversations which are not always audible above locomotive sounds.
