Heyday of British Steam: London, South Midlands and South West
Video technology came too late to record the golden years of Britain’s railways during the steam era, but thanks to a handful of amateur cameramen armed with 8mm cine cameras, many images of the ‘Iron Horse’ have been saved for posterity.
Your journey starts at Rugby and continues via Leamington Spa, Banbury, Oxford and Reading. From Reading we head West, looking at Swindon Works shed and station. We pause at Bath and Bristol before a nostalgic look at the former Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway. From there it’s London via Salisbury and Basingstoke.
