This fascinating box set includes three programmes exploring England’s most famous stately homes and their beautiful gardens; CHARTWELL takes you on a tour of the National Trust property in Kent, which was the Victorian home of the greatest statesmen of the twentieth century, Sir Winston Churchill; CHATSWORTH guides you around one of the grandest and most popular stately homes in the country, Chatsworth House in Derbyshire; SANDRINGHAM is a celebration of one of England’s finest houses and the Queen’s Norfolk residence. Includes a guide through the architectural history, the gardens and the estate.

DVD 1 – Chartwell –
Visit the family home where Britain’s wartime Prime Minister lived for more than 40 years. See the rooms as they were in Churchill’s time right down to the daily papers and his famous cigars. A visit to this house and gardens is a must for all fans of Churchill and if you are too young to remember him, then it is still a very pleasant place to visit and learn about the great man.

DVD 2 – Chatsworth – When you drive across the surrounding park and see Chatsworth House for the first time, a sumptuous pile of yellow stones surrounded by gardens, fronted by the River Derwent and backed by a tree-covered hillside, it fairly takes your breath away. It is not hard to see why this is the premier tourist attraction of the area.

DVD 3 – Sandringham – Built in 1870 by the Prince and Princess of Wales, later King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra, Sandringham was once described as ‘The most comfortable house in England’. It has been passed down as a private home through four generations of British monarchs and is now the country retreat of Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.
