Description

No Bristol team had ever previously won back-to-back promotions, but Darrell Clarke’s side ripped the history books into shreds in the club’s fantastic 2015/16 campaign. Clarke also became the first Rovers manager to taste such glory with the Pirates on two occasions, as he experienced full redemption following that heart-breaking day in May 2014, when he was handed the reins with eight games to go and could not halt the slide into non-league football.
Rovers returned to the Football League as a rehabilitated club with a wholly new attitude. Clarke stated that he expected a top seven finish, and a spectacular start on the road set his team on its way to eleven away victories, equalling an all-time club record. After a shaky start at home, Rovers found top gear at the Mem just before Christmas and won the last nine matches in Horfield, the best sequence at home since the mid-1930s.

There were outstanding performances throughout the team, from the excellent Steve Mildenhall in goal and the resilience of Tom Lockyer to the style and vision of Chris Lines. The mercurial Billy Bodin put his injury-hit past behind him to dazzle Gasheads with his skills and contribute a hefty thirteen goals. Naturally, Matty Taylor deserves a special mention: the League Two Golden Boot winner scored 28 goals in all competitions, a tally only beaten at Rovers in the last half-century by Rickie Lambert when he netted 29 in 2008-09.
When the Al Qadi family assumed ownership of the club in February 2016, this only enhanced the positive mood which had developed at the club, with hopes of even better times to come, and the stadium Rovers fans have dreamed about for decades.

This double-disc, 3hr. souvenir DVD features action from every single game, home and away, and tells the full story of how Rovers achieved only the fourth automatic promotion in their history.

Also available: ‘Browner’s Right Foot!’ – A specially extended souvenir 110-minute DVD which relays all the drama, and ultimate joy, of Rovers’ heart-stopping win over Dagenham and Redbridge on May 7th 2016, which sealed automatic promotion. The full match plus pre-match build-up and post-match celebrations!
