An entertaining look back at 200 years of life in Exeter.

It covers the period from the mid 1700s, when the ancient city wall and gates were demolished to make way for new high-speed stagecoaches, to 1945, with Exeter celebrating the end of a war that had left it in ruins. The heyday of the stagecoach; the coming of the railway; the first motor cars; the last days of the trams; pomp and ceremony, poverty, and death and destruction wrought by German bombs are all featured in this remarkable story. This extraordinary period in Exeter’s past is brought to life with a wonderful collection of old pictures and archive cine-film, while stories from historic copies of the Exeter Flying Post, the Western Times and the Express and Echo provide first-hand accounts of events as they happened, and also a fascinating insight into everyday life in Exeter in times gone by.

The DVD is narrated by award winning actor Howard Ellison.
